Sharp Powder Coating takes great pride in our service and workmanship. Our experience speaks for itself, with over ten years of experience. As a leader in coating technology we are able to offer state of the art services to our customers.

Powder coating is a fairly involved process, including the preparation and cleaning of the metal, and the application of color. The end result is the most durable finish available to the consumer.

Before starting the marketing of a new manufactured product, give us a call. The advantages of working with Sharp Final Coating will be clearly evident.

What is powder Coating?
Since it's introduction in North America almost 40 years ago, powder coating has become the fastest growing finishing technology, currently representing over 10 percent of the total industrial finishing market. More and more finishing engineers for a countless array of products have switched from liquid finishing to powder coating as a way to produce a high quality and durable finish while complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations

How Powder Coating Works-
Powder coating is a dry finishing process, using finely ground particles of pigment and resin which are electrostaticlly charged and sprayed onto a part to be coated. The coating process can be done manually or automatically with a wide variety of equipment available. The parts to be coated are electrically grounded so that the charged powder particles projected at them adhere to the parts and are held there until melted and fused into a smooth coating in the curing oven. The result is a uniform, durable, high quality finish that is also environmentally friendly.

The End to Environmental Problems-
Because of the unique process of powder coating, many problems and issues inherent in liquid finishing are eliminated or minimized. Liquid finishing requires the use of solvents and these solvents necessitate venting, filtering, and solvent recovery systems to control the emission of volatile organic compounds(VOC's). Powder coating, on the other hand, contains no solvents and therefore emits negligible, if any polluting VOC's in to the atmosphere. Exhaust air from the coating booth can be safely returned to the coating room, and less oven air is exhausted to the outside, making the powder coating process a safer and cleaner finishing alternative.

The Four E's of Powder Coating-
Powder Coatings Provide:

Environmental Compliance
While powder coating started as an alternative to finishing metal products only, the development of powders that can be cured at lower temperatures has allowed powder coating to expand to nonmetal surfaces such as ceramics, and some wood and plastic applications Ongoing technological advancements in materials, equipment, and application techniques will ensure that powder coatings will occupy an ever-increasing share of the finishing market.

Wheel Protection
Powder coating may be higher priced initially, but provide greater performance and longer wheel life.
Depending on the application, they can rescue wheel refurbishing requirements and lower operating costs when compared to a single coat of acrylic paint.

Powder coated wheels are first sand blasted to clean the surface to be powder coated. This also makes it easier to check for stress cracks on the wheel. The wheel is then powder coated, which results in a smooth shiny surface that not only looks great, but will also clean easy. Powder coatings are being formulated to extend wheel life and increase wheel durability under harsh operating conditions. The different coating options are geared to help reduce fleet maintenance costs, prolong the "new look" appearance and image with the wide variety of colors available.
